San Luis Valley Health is seeking CMAs, LPNs or RNs to join our Primary Care and Pediatrics teams. These positions are responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. These positions will assist physician/mid-level providers and staff in coordinating patient care, participating in providing health promotion, health maintenance, and management of illnesses for patients of San Luis Valley Health. The CMA, LPN or RN provides nursing care to a variety of acutely or patients whose age and diagnosis may not yet have been determined.
The nursing activities listed below are not all inclusive of the tasks performed at the CMA, LPN or RN level:
Perform selected nursing duties, history and nursing assessment, vital signs, and weights.
Recognize and ensure patients with urgent or emergent situations are seen immediately.
Recognize the need for and initiate action in emergencies, i.e., cardiac/respiratory arrest, seizures, and assaultive behavior. Initiate and/or assist with emergency measures involving sudden changes in patient's condition, such as mouth-to-mouth or ambu-resuscitation, maintaining airways, and protecting patients having seizures.
Coordinate patient care by triaging patient phone calls regarding urgency of appointments and scheduling procedures.
Maintain efficiency in the clinic by taking responsibility for conducting smooth and expeditious patient flow.
Assist the physician(s)/mid-level provider with examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor office procedures.
Provide direct patient care as appropriate
Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding the clinic, patients, and employees. Has vast HIPAA knowledge and is in compliance with HIPAA policies.
Successful candidate will posses the following qualifications and skills:
Current Colorado Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Medical Assistant certification
Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
One year of experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to respond to changing work load or patient assignments and react to calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively
Working knowledge of sterile techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
