Our Laboratory Medicine and Pathology department has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-time, (100%) Medical Laboratory Scientist 2. 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and evaluate new procedures and instrumentation including performance of assay validation experiments and writing validation reports.
  • Train Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)1's and MLS Trainees in performance of new assays.
  • Perform quality control of laboratory assays on daily and weekly basis.
  • Utilize statistical software such as Levy-Jennings charges for quality control of assays.
  • Train and act as a resource, providing advice and expertise to MLS1's and MLS Trainees in quality control and troubleshooting of instruments and procedures.
  • Revise and submit updated clinical laboratory test procedures for approval.
  • Write and revise laboratory protocols and guidelines.
  • Schedule orientation and training of new employees, post-doctoral fellows, residents, students, and other health care professionals; prepare teaching materials; submit written evaluation of students.
  • Assists Manager or MLS Lead with preparation of work schedules including coverage for vacations, evenings, weekends, and on-call of a laboratory shift, section, or division.
  • Assist Manager or MLS Lead in coordinating educational programs for staff and students and provide feedback on performance.
  • Inventory laboratory reagents and consumable items; submit supply orders for approval.
  • Perform duties of Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 or equivalent experience.
  • Perform related duties as required.


Requirements:
Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science OR equivalent education/experience
AND
Current Medical Laboratory Science certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent certifying organization; or certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division
AND
Two years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist I or equivalent experience.
