 Hospital Laboratory Technologist II, Per Diem EEG Laboratory Department Description The Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratories at UCDMC consist of the four units: EEG Lab, Sleep Lab, EMG Lab and the TCD Lab. Each unit is managed jointly by the Medical Director/s/ and the Nurse Practice Manager. The EEG Lab is managed jointly by the EEG Lab Medical Director and Neurology/Neurological Surgery Nurse Practice Manager. This position is in the UCDMC Main Hospital and is jointly under the direction of the EEG Lab Medical Director and the Nurse Practice Manager. EEG Long-Term Monitoring (LTM) and Continuous EEG Monitoring is a major part of the EEG Lab. Patients are placed on LTM or CEEG for classification of spells, seizure characterization and quantification, medication management, or evaluation for surgery. Job Summary THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities The HLT II Technologist consists of and plays the role of the Neurodiagnostic Assistant (NDA) in order to promote and maintain a safe patient environment and best practices, establishing that the patient not be left unattended. Continuously monitors patients undergoing continuous EEG recording for safety, either in room or via remote video monitoring. Alerts nursing and/or EEG Technologist when clinical seizures or other paroxysmal events occur. Report changes to EEG Technologist and/or physician for urgent and/or non-urgent intervention; these actions have direct and immediate impact to patient outcomes. The Neurodiagnostic Assistant (NDA) is not qualified to analyze EEG data unless the R.EEG T credential has been attained. The Neurodiagnostic Assistant will meet competency and supervision requirements as defined by the EEG Lab. which included successful completion of LTM 100 Introduction to LTM for EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) Personnel. And no less than 20 hours of observation in an EMU Lab under the direction of a credentialed Neurodiagnostic Technologist (R. EEG T., or CLTM). This position is exclusive of the operating room.
