Postdoctoral Researcher

This position is in the laboratory of Principal Investigator H. Scott Stadler, PhD, Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The main research focus of the laboratory is the molecular regulation of musculoskeletal tissue development and homeostasis with the application of molecular determinants in the repair/regeneration of musculoskeletal tissues.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will lead a new project studying the role of human lncRNAs in cartilage tissue engineering and homeostasis. The Postdoctoral Scholar will be a major contributor manuscripts and grant submissions, which will provide career-development benchmarks for future independence.

Salary will follow NIH-designated guidelines for postdoctoral researchers.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will work with human cell lines and human cartilage samples. The research environment is a laboratory area consisting of a dedicated laboratory bench and desk, BSL2-approved tissue culture room and a microscopy room. A separate desk and computer in office space will be provided for manuscript writing. This position will be using lentiviruses following an approved protocol and BSL-2 certified tissue culture facility.

• PhD in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or equivalent biomedical research-related field
• Experience in data analysis, organization, and presentation using basic software (Photoshop, MS Office, Sigmaplot, Systat)
• Proficiency in some of the following techniques: cell culture, microscopy, confocal microscopy, basic molecular biology involving RNA-based techniques (in situ hybridization, qRTPCR, RNA-seq, single cell RNA-seq) and immunohistochemistry
• Basic understanding of statistics (student's T test, ANOVA) and use in assessing scientific data
• Competency in the communication of scientific results both in writing and in oral presentation
