Be a positive advocate for the museum to all visitors including, students, guests, volunteers, staff, donors, & board members by being accountable for the overall comfort/needs of guests, solving any visitor concerns as quickly as possible without bias, and by maintaining a knowledge of the collection, upcoming exhibits, programs and special events.
Operation and organization of admissions desks, American West inter-actives and Jingle Rails galleries.
Up selling daily admissions to a museum membership
Clerical duties including:
Mail Processing/delivery and logging all checks into the check log
Process and maintain reports of and documentation for Coupons, Access Passes, and Comment Cards
Maintain downtown events calendar
Daily Attendance, exhibit comparison and flash report daily data input and report preparation
Assist part-time staff in overseeing the daily organization, function and daily deposits of north and south admissions desks.
Oversee the Guest Services budget and ensure that all necessary supplies/materials are ordered when needed
Schedule staff while providing sufficient coverage of the museum (taking into account downtown and internal events/programs) and maintaining the payroll budget.
Attend Rental/Events meetings, Production, Exhibit and other attendance driven meetings to maintain a Visitor’s perspective.
Advocate from the Visitor’s perspective with department heads, security and volunteer services managements for “Guest Services-Best Practices.”
Teach Visitor Service staff to work with security during a code Adam, clearing the building during a Fire Alarm evacuation, clearing the galleries to the basement during a Tornado Warning and the Protocol for an Active Shooter situation.
Maintain Admissions/Electronic signage and printed pricing signs.
Provide support to VP of Operations as requested.
Report visitor concerns to the correct department/individuals in order to maintain a visitor-based perspective on daily operations
Train part-time staff and seasonal staff on admissions procedures and gallery clean-up
Provide ongoing professional development and customer service training to part-time Guest Services staff.
Organize and host monthly meetings with all Guest Services staff
Provide talking points to Guest Services staff that address relevant issues, exhibitions, etc.
Cross train staff to work in museum store as needed
Minimum 4 years supervisory experience
Minimum 4 years working in a customer service position
Associate’s Degree or Above
Ability to think creatively for problem solving and to maximize museum resources
Computer experience necessary (MS Word and Excel)
Experience with Point of Sale terminal
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexible schedule (must be able to work weekends, evenings and some Holidays)
Ability to work effectively with diverse people in the museum and in the community
Ability to balance many tasks at once
Knowledge of American Indians and Western Art a plus
Contribute to a positive and exciting team work environment
