Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: Appropriate Federal, State and local safety practices and regulations relating to collection and disposal of refuse, recyclables and yard trimmings. Comprehensive waste management practices, including refuse, recycling, organics and green waste. collection, processing and disposal and waste diversion. Principles of effective management, supervision and training. Recycling concepts, laws and practices. Refuse, recycling, organics and green waste collection and disposal practices. Refuse, recycling and/or organics and green waste collection operations. Street sweeping operations, safety and procedures. Supervisory, management and training principles. Interpreting and understanding data from environmental monitoring, waste diversion and other waste management programs. Experience Six years of field experience in refuse, recycling, street sweeping and/or yard trimming collection programs. Three years of responsible supervisory experience in integrated waste management. Education/Training Two years of college coursework or other formal training in environmental science, engineering, business, public administration, or related field. Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, business, public administration, or related field is highly desirable. License(s)/Certification(s) Valid California Class C driver's license. Class B Commercial Driver's License is highly desirable. Special Conditions Some classifications or positions may require further training on the conduct of proper pre-trip/post-trip inspections of specialized vehicles.
