Status: Full-time staff (10 months), 40 hours/week, benefits (no vacation) Location: Robinson Training Room/ Norton Sports Complex Division/Department: Athletics, Athletic Training Reports to: Athletics Director
Position Overview: Crossroads Athletic Training staff supports the needs of over 500 student-athletes the three divisions at Crossroads School (Elementary, Middle, and Upper). This is a full time staff position that works only 10 months during the year. This position is primarily responsible for managing the health and safety of Crossroads’ Student-Athletics before during and after athletics practices and competition. Normal work hours vary based on practice and game schedules, which fluctuate season to season. A “typical work day” is Monday-Friday and may vary due to team schedules and coverage needs. Extended hours during the winter season include late night coverage until 9 or 10 pm as well as Saturday game coverage. Holiday break coverage (winter and spring) may vary and will be determined by the Athletics Director.
Essential Job Functions: • Assist in creating a safe and welcoming environment for the student athletes • Support, mentor and work closely with part-time athletic trainers • Provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation services for all student-athletes • Clearly communicate with the Athletic Trainers, Athletic Directors, Coaches, Parents, Teachers and Administrators about athletic injuries when and where appropriate • Maintain proper inventory and care of athletic training supplies, equipment, • Assist with creating a bi-annual supply order (Fall and Spring) based on current budget allowances. • Accurately/Timely track student visits/treatments in an EMR log (Magnus Health) • Maintain accurate records of incident reports and MD clearance notes • Support in management and approval of all Annual Athletic physicals (PPE’s) and report status to administrative assistant as a part of overall eligibility • Communicate athletic clearance (injury status) with coaches • Facilitate MD visits for families upon request • Support with annual physical exam event with CHLA • Update, maintain and rehearse EAP’s • Weekly meeting with the Athletics Department • Help coordinate post-concussion care of athletes RTP/ RTL and concussion management for all Crossroads students grade 6-12 • Work with athletics department and coaches to coordinate schedule and proctoring of baseline neurocognitive testing
Non-Essential (Additional) Job Functions: • Has strong verbal skills for communicating with coaches/parents/school administration/physicians re: student athletes injury status • Has strong writing skills for communicating with coaches/parents/school administration/physicians re: student athletes injury status via email • Required Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Maintains Current CPR certification • Maintains a certification in good standing with the BOC. Has valid NPI#. • Has strong knowledge/ understanding of current California and CIF Concussion Laws and • RTL/RTP protocols • Is comfortable using an online EMR system (familiarity with Magnus Health a plus) • Is comfortable administering SCAT5, BESS and ImPACT Neurocognitive tests (possibly others) • 3+ years’ experience as an AT in a secondary school/Middle School • Work closely with other licensed health care providers on/off campus (MD’s, Nurses, PT’s, Counselors, Psychologists) to ensure proper diagnosis of physical/ mental health issues to ensure that students are receiving the highest standard of care • Is proficient in initiating and modifying PT/Home EX programs for student athletes • Is willing to travel (by bus) with our teams to away venues along with possible seasonal tournament travel. • Flexible hours: available/ willing to work some Saturdays and late nights game and practice coverage • Has experience with emerging modalities including but not limited to: kinesiology taping, IASTM techniques etc. • Is proficient in prophylactic taping a bracing techniques
Physical Demands: • Is able to lift approximately 50lbs (injury ice and water coolers) • Is able to use a personal vehicle to transport ice/water kit and emergency supplies to off- campus home practices and games • Is able to jog lightly to attend to an injured player
