Coordinator of Compliance and Student Athlete Success-The Athletics Office at Whittier College seeks a Coordinator of Compliance and Student Athlete Success. Whittier College (CA), a NCAA Division III member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Compliance & Student-Athlete Success that is a 12-month Full-time with benefits, 2-year entry-level internship position in conjunction with NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant. Whittier offers 22 varsity programs in which over 30 percent of the student body participates.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full Time Salary Range: $22-$22.60 per hour; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.
Reports to: Senior Woman Administrator
Location/Department: Whittier College (Main Campus)/Athletics
Responsibilities: Position and responsibilities will include all aspects of Athletic Administration including but not limited to:
Assisting in NCAA & Institutional Rules Compliance oversight including but not limited to returning and incoming Student-Athlete eligibility management, roster organization and athletic-training clearances, transfer eligibility management, compliance education for student-athletes and staff, rules interpretation requests and inquiries, scheduling oversight, data reporting and tracking both within NCAA and Institutional. This will consist of approximately 30% of position education and responsibilities.
Assisting in Sport-Oversight for a limited number of men's and women's programs that will include but not limited to purchasing and budget oversight, facility assistance, game-management protocols and NCAA Division III Game-day experience training. This will consist of approximately 10% of position education and responsibilities.
Associate Level involvement in Student-Athlete Academic Oversight and Welfare Matters & Initiatives that include but not limited to liaison for Student Disability Services, Faculty Athletic Representative and SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) Advisor. Additionally, the position will be required to sit on the CARE Team (Community, Affirmation, Resilience, Empowerment) that facilitates strategies and methods for student persistence, graduation and overall health and wellness support. This will consist of approximately 20% of position education and responsibilities.
Associate level involvement with the Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Office of Student Engagement to collaborate with SAAC on implementing diversity and equity seminars and events, initiating programming in accordance with NCAA Identity initiatives, Title IX education and prevention, racism and inherent bias education and will join as a committee member on the Gender Equity Taskforce. This will consist of approximately 20% of position education and responsibilities.
As a 12-month employee, a limited role would include Department fundraising efforts such as Alumni procurement, Golf Tournament assistance and summer fundraising events. This will consist of approximately 10% of position education and responsibilities.
As this is a 2-year grant internship affiliated with NCAA sponsorship, it is the goal of the Whittier College Athletic Department for this position to provide a wide array of experience and education in the role of a Division III Athletic Administrator. The position is expected to expand the breadth of the current Administration and support the advancement of the student-athlete experience. The Senior Woman Administrator will be the direct supervisor to the position and will work closely in providing direction and education of all compliance, programming and position responsibilities.

Position Specifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment and understanding of the student-athlete concept and a working knowledge of NCAA and SCIAC rules and regulations. Additionally, candidate will possess experience working with diverse constituencies, sensitivity to multi-cultural issues and a strong conviction to generate abundant growth in areas of diversity, equity and inclusion. With the seasonality of collegiate athletics, the candidate should expect and have willingness to be flexible with the requirement to work extended and weekend hours.
