Position Description: As a centerpiece of a great university, UCLA College's Division of Undergraduate Education serves as the campus-wide advocate for undergraduate education, providing leadership to achieve the highest quality of teaching and learning; it also promotes academic success for UCLA's diverse undergraduate population, ensuring options for all students to engage in a challenging array of educational opportunities, from foundational general education courses to advanced research and honors projects. An essential part of ensuring these options is the ability to raise funds. The Division of Undergraduate Education in the College seeks an Assistant Director of Development with initiative, self-confidence, determination, and experience working on highly productive and collaborative teams.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development, Undergraduate Education, and in consultation with the Dean of Undergraduate Education, the Assistant Director will establish long-range goals and objectives for development programs and activities that reflect the academic priorities of the Division of Undergraduate Education. This individual will engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage to development programs and to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary; meet with faculty and staff in priority areas and gain knowledge of research interests and areas of expertise; and represent the College and its divisions to the broader community. The Assistant Director will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in the College and External Affairs; use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to academic priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers and donors designed to identify new prospective donors for private support; identify a core group of prospective donors for major gifts; and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pipeline at various stages of identification, cultivation and solicitation. In consultation with the Executive Director and other Undergraduate Education development officers, the Assistant Director will strategically plan, prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations as appropriate.
