Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Staff Research Associate will assist in research that is focused on studying the mechanisms that control entry into mitosis and progression through mitosis in a manner that ensures accurate genome inheritance.
The incumbent will use standard experimental procedures to engineer and image human cultured cells and nematode (C. elegans) embryos and will be tasked with culturing diverse human cell lines, labeling cells lines with fluorescent markers, imaging cell lines following different treatments and quantifying mitotic entry by analysis of single-cell time lapse movie data.
The incumbent will additionally perform basic C. elegans procedures, including strain passaging, dissection, injection, and imaging - and assist other lab members conducting C. elegans projects. The incumbent will perform lab management duties including ordering supplies, maintaining clear and accurate records, providing work direction to students, and coordinating lab safety compliance, equipment maintenance, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.
