Workplace Technology Services (WTS) is responsible for adopting, deploying, and maintaining campus-wide workplace services for faculty, staff, and students. This includes email, calendaring, web content management, signature, mobile technologies, collaboration services, and business intelligence. As part of WTS, the Service Desk team supports both business and academic (including research) services, and is responsible for providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 (Residential Halls) support to UCSD faculty, staff, student and affiliates. Supported services includes but is not limited to network (wired/wireless), network security and authentication, voice, central email, business/academic applications, instructional classrooms/labs, and classroom technology.
The Service Desk Support Team Member will work with a team of career and student staff to provide world class customer IT service over the phone, electronic communication and in person to the staff, faculty and students at UC San Diego. We are highly collaborative and are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience as well as how we work.
Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.
Coordinates residential network (ResNet) support (Approximately 19,000 affiliate users, 7,000 non-affiliate users and 85,000 devices) and acts as the technical lead for ResNet's network access control (NAC) system.
Plans, organizes, implements, maintains, and ensures quality of service of technical support for resident undergraduate and graduate students, including creating orientation programs for incoming students and their parents and providing ongoing computing and networking educational programs for students.
Provides technical computing support for summer conference guests. Monitors network activity and status.
Organizes and implements a help desk support model for ResNet and all ITS customers with the ITS Service Desk/ResNet Manager, including on-site support for ResNet customers.
Works with ITS-Network Application Support and the appropriate third party vendors to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot NAC software. Creates, maintains, and modifies databases for support tools and reports.
