The Health System Director for the Saint Alphonsus Healthcare System is responsible for overseeing multistate operations of four acute care pharmacies, several ambulatory care clinics that support the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group, and outpatient pharmacies that provide support to patients within the continuum of care. The Director is responsible for the strategic planning, design, operation, and improvement of the organization’s medication management system. These responsibilities are fulfilled through his or her own actions, proper delegation to competent individuals on his or her staff, and collaborative efforts with other healthcare professionals.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy Successful completion of an ASHP recognized Pharmacy Residency Program A current pharmacist license in good standing with the Boards of Pharmacy in Idaho and Oregon within six months of employment if not already licensed in these states. 3-5 years pharmacy director experience in a complex health care system. Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems required. Working knowledge of Epic is preferred.
Board certifications in clinical pharmacy or ambulatory care pharmacy highly preferred. Advanced practice degree (MHA or MBA) highly preferred. Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology.
Leadership, administrative, human resource, and managerial skills required. Demonstrated ability to effectively participate on interdisciplinary teams and committees. Business acumen including profit/loss understanding, contract negotiations, and GPO function required. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics. Problem-solving ability and analytical thinking required.
