May perform a variety of tasks related to material selection, order processing, surfacing, coating, and/or finishing.
May perform the following duties depending on assigned function:
* Stock lens orders, log lenses to trays, log breakages into lab management system, stock the lens shelves, match paperwork and materials to trays, sort and deliver trays, pick lenses from shelf for the stock lens orders as specified on work ticket * Receive frames, prepare frames to match up with prescriptions, verify frame information matches RX information, communicate with doctors regarding changes or choices, reprint LMS (lab management system) tickets * Clean lenses, check for imperfections prior to the AR coating process, sort incoming and outgoing work, apply identification numbers using the laser engraver, sandblasts * Drop ball testing/safety engraving, sorting trays, carting and delivering work, de-packaging lenses, folding work tickets, cleaning lenses, de-blocking, machine cleaning
Perform other duties as assigned
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Experience in a production/manufacturing environment
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasks
Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination; good near vision and attention for detail
Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushing
Ability to recognize and distinguish colors
Ability to understand and follow procedures
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Ability to walk or stand up to 100% of the time
Optical Technician Level 2 for QAD
Computer skills a plus
Ability to process breakage and understand the path the frame and lenses follow
Understanding the use and ability to learn DVI for the required job functions
Ability to work with other department personnel
Ability to understand the proper breakage paths for each department
Able to work 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, subject to change based on business need
The working environment is well lighted and ventilated. Individuals are typically required to stand for long periods of time. Noise and dust from power-grinding machinery and other equipment is to be expected. Individuals may wear safety attire such as goggles and gloves and may work physically close to others, such as when sharing work areas. There are no major hazards.
