The Assistant Director of Admissions, Grades 9-12 plays a key professional role and will be an integral member of a team that includes the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management and the Admissions staff. The Assistant Director of Admissions is an essential ambassador to prospective students and parents who may be considering San Domenico School. Because Admissions is often the first point of contact for families interested in the day, boarding, and international components of our school, the Assistant Director must be sensitive to all of the ways in which interactions with the public will impact perceptions of San Domenico School. The Assistant Director of Admissions will report to the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management.
The Assistant Director of Admissions will have primary responsibility for several aspects of our admissions program and will have secondary and shared responsibility in other key areas. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary manager of the Upper School Prospective Student Visit Program including the scheduling of student visitors in their on-campus activities
Primary manager of the Upper School Student Ambassador Program which includes overseeing the recruitment, training, and scheduling of San Domenico Student Ambassadors for Preview Days, Student Visit Days, School Visits, Fairs, High School Counselor events, and Student Panels
Primary manager of Upper School Revisit Week and New Family Welcome events
Schedule, plan, and attend on-campus and off-campus admission events such as Preview Days, Parent Tours, Student Visits, Information Sessions, Parent Coffees, School Fairs, School Visits, and other admissions-related events locally, nationally, and internationally
Assist with maintaining an effective system of communication with prospective students and families – inquiries, applicants, and enrolled students – to build strong relationships that continue throughout the admission process into enrollment
Conduct individual student interviews
Work closely with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management to determine the admissibility of applicants and ultimately enroll the new freshman class, year-over-year
Travel both domestically and internationally to recruit prospective students, which will also include follow-up communication with prospective students, families, consultants and agents
Assist with managing the daily operations of the Admissions Office
Attend and participate in all relevant admission decision meetings
Collaborate with San Domenico faculty, staff, current parents, former parents, and alumni for recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts
Attend professional development conferences, workshops, and meetings in consultation with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management
Exceptional ability to work with all constituencies of an organization including students, parents, teachers, staff, administration, and current and prospective families
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent oral communication and public speaking skills
Excellent organizational skills
Experience with various types of business software including Excel, Filemaker (or similar database software), and Google Docs/Spreadsheets
Strong ability to manage intricate projects from start to finish
Experience at planning and executing events
Creative, deadline-oriented team player with excellent attention to detail

A positive attitude and sense of humor
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Truly enjoys interacting with adults and students of all ages
This is a year-round Staff position with some early morning, evening, and weekend work required. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in independent school admissions or administrative support, and/or experience in marketing and communications, as well as proven cultural competence in a community dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Teaching experience a plus but not necessary.
