https://ue.ucdavis.edu/about Job SummaryUnder direction of the UE Associate Vice Provost of Academic Programs, the Executive Director of Academic Programs (EDAP) provides operational leadership, staff coordination and supervision, and management for UE special academic programs and campus-wide programs that enhance and promote student experience and success. The EDAP focuses on inclusive and equitable access and opportunities for undergraduate students through coordinated support and collaborative programs of the University Honors Program, the Seminars Programs, the Undergraduate Research Center, Summer Sessions, and, as needed, other academic programming. Together with the Director in each unit, and with the oversight and collaboration of the academic leadership provided by the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Programs/Faculty Director of the University Honors Program, the EDAP provides oversight of programmatic, teaching and advising functions, long-term planning, program evaluation, budget and fiscal control, revenue generation, technical support services, utilization of physical resources, supervision of professional and administrative staff, and other management functions. The EDAP collaborates and communicates with colleges, academic departments, and partner programs in Student Affairs to build and sustain strategic partnerships that enhance student success, retention, and graduation.
Required Qualifications - Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience leading, developing, and directing university academic instructional and experiential programs.
- Documented experience developing, organizing and implementing educational programs, workshops or seminars to enhance student development. Experience tracking program effectiveness, executing student needs assessments, assessing academic advising learning outcomes, and using data to make broad recommendations.
- Experience with supervision, performance evaluation, professional development, conflict management, and mediation; demonstrated management skills in higher education and ability to work and lead teams.
- Experience in fiscal management, grant management, and budget planning.
- Collaborative aptitude and consulting expertise to affect institutional change in a complex organization.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and research patterns of student academic needs and to develop strategies and programs to successfully meet needs.
- Oral and written skills to communicate in a diverse environment at all levels, with tack and diplomacy in order to achieve program and campus goals. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Preferred Education/Experience - Doctoral degree or an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience leading, developing, and directing university academic instructional and experiential programs.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations governing undergraduate education in a research university.
- Documented success implementing structural improvements using change leadership methods.
- Skills to articulate program purposes and goals to the general public and work with staff to generate interest, funding, and support for services and specialists programs.
