What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand and supply planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.
Job Summary
The Manager, Warehouse Operations Outbound oversees the building's outbound processing, including labor planning, picking, packing and shipping to achieve operational quality, safety and efficiency. Through successful operational and people leading, this job delivers on the business unit's short and long-term goals, improves profitability, and develops the business unit's warehouse talent. This job also responds to urgent customer needs or supply disruptions to ensure customer commitments are fulfilled.
Responsibilities
Lead and direct a Supervisory team of 4 direct reports and 70 (indirect associates)
Ensure the timely distribution of product while meeting the distribution center standards of budget, policies, procedures and quality
Lead initiatives designed to improve processes or continuous improvement projects throughout the facility
Provide leadership to the team and challenge the status quo; interact with employees on the floor and in an office setting
Influence and understand the business and culture strategy and translate the strategy into executable initiatives for their department
Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve issues and participate in regularly scheduled meetings (this may include travel up to 10%)
Collaborate with cross functional teams at all levels within the organization
Cultivate positive relationships with peers and coworkers
Interview and make hiring decisions for supervisor, lead and niche roles
Develop the supervisory and employee population, which includes training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals
Ensures operations are in compliance to the business unit's standard operating procedures and implements operational changes cascaded from the Site Director.
Recognizing the employees' diverse skillsets and levels of experience, provides motivational leadership and champions a culture of high performance, learning, and safety.
Responds to disruptions in outbound processing and ensures that customer commitments are fulfilled. Communicates with Sales and Customer Service teams within the business unit to understand customer concerns and makes adjustments to operations and people resources in response.
Manages safety trainings and procedures for warehouse operations, ensuring that operations are in compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Applies knowledge of warehouse safety to continuously and proactively mitigate risks.
Monitors performance and productivity metrics and reports on operational outcomes to Site Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
5+ years of relevant experience preferred
Prior leadership experience required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working within a warehouse (or distribution) environment preferred
Inventory planning and processing experience preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Tables and spreadsheet formulas)
Experience working within ERP's (SAP) preferred
Prior experience with continuous improvement projects and initiatives
Adaptable to operational needs
Ability to problem solve through complex scenarios and drive change

Anticipated salary: $92,100-$131,500
