This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.
The Department of Modern Language Studies at Texas Christian University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructor I of French beginning in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in French, a passion for student engagement inside and outside of the classroom, and a demonstrated commitment to active learning and effective, inclusive teaching in a liberal arts context. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load with two potential promotions in rank (Instructor II and Senior Instructor), and annual support for professional development.
For full consideration, applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in French/French Studies with a focus on French culture and society by August 15, 2025.
Department Details:
The TCU Department of Modern Language Studies is composed of eight full-time faculty members and offers major and minor programs in Chinese, French, German, and Italian. The Department also operates an immersive Language House program on campus for each of these languages.
School/College Description:
Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
