***Please note:This is a flexible role, with an expectation of at least three days per week on-site M-F, 8:30am-5:30pm, availability will be expected outside of these hours with occasional nights and weekends
This position, the Director of Internal Content, is on the Internal Communications team within the UCSF Office of Communications (OC). The goal of the Internal Communications unit is to lead communications that convey UCSF's priorities, foster engagement, and build community across UCSF. The team accomplishes this by facilitating a community of practice that brings together the expertise of UCSF's communicators across the enterprise, as well as leading large, complex communications strategies that span UCSF.
The Director of Internal Content will advance this work by:
Leading a content and editorial strategy for Internal Communications that aligns with and advances the institution's priorities,
Managing and governing existing and emerging communications channels across UCSF, including, but not limited to, email, social media, websites, and intranets.
You are a creative and seasoned communications professional who will be working in an exciting, fast-paced environment in close partnership with the Chancellor's Office, teams across the Office of Communications, and communicators in departments across UCSF. Your content oversight and strategy will help ensure that important messages and initiatives are successfully developed and targeted to reach UCSF's decentralized population of employees and learners, including population includes a mix of health care providers, researchers, educators, students, and staff, while monitoring messaging impact, changing course as needed, and continually improving communications to build community and foster positive engagement.
As a preeminent public university, UCSF has a critical need for a robust, centralized internal communications strategy to promote consistent messaging across channels that advance strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Content and Editorial
In collaboration with team members in the Office of Communications and partners across the organization, strategize and lead a content strategy and development for internal communications that aligns with department and organizational goals.
Build and manage an editorial calendar that captures the key yearly internally focused events at UCSF, as well as events that align with strategic priorities.
Serve as a key liaison and facilitator for communicators across the enterprise to elevate communications into a strategy that advances the institution's strategic priorities.
Lead a content team that, in collaboration with the Strategic Communications team and other teams across UCSF, creates content and editorial for strategic projects, including using video and social media for meeting internal communications goals.
Using analytics, guide the communications strategies to effectively meet strategic priorities.
Internal Communications Platforms
Govern and manage the content on emerging internal digital communications platforms
With partners in the Office of Communications and across the enterprise, facilitate the delivery of effective communications content across new and existing digital communications platforms
Strategize and manage the curation of UCSF's internal news distribution - including across the current bi-weekly e-newsletter, campus-wide email messages, social media platforms, and other digital channels.
Leadership Communications
With the Executive Director of Internal Communications, produce the monthly UCSF town hall and participate in other leadership events.
Importantly, the director must be a team player and person of integrity whose beliefs and actions align with, and advance, UCSF's mission, PRIDE Values, and stated policy goals, including its strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $160,000-$180,000 (Annual Rate).
