Summary

This Intermediate Care Technician position is for the Nursing - Acute Care service of the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) located in Aurora - CO. This position serves as an advanced technician for the Emergency Department (ED) and provides care for patients who are present for treatment.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 11/12/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year - it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance - you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists - speech pathologists - medical officers - and optometrists. Therefore - technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge - methods - and techniques of the position to be filled. In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirement: You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience for the GS-07 grade: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to: Observing patient status and keeping licensed personnel informed of any change in condition. Providing geriatric-specific care. Performing Patient Transport with or without cardiac monitor. Assisting licensed personnel with the delivery of care to patients with complex - specialized - and potentially life-threatening situations. Responds to medical emergencies as a part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) -Code Blue team - or medical transport team. Collecting specimens. Assisting in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an emergency setting. OR - Education for the GS-07 grade (Transcripts Required): Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 1 full year of graduate level education. OR - Combination for the GS-07 grade (Transcripts Required): Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond a bachelor's degree and specialized experience - as described above - to meet the total requirement. Preferred Experience: Prior military experience in health care settings is preferred. Experience as Hospital Corpsman - Combat Medic - Medical Technician is highly desired. Duties

• Major duties include but are not limited to: Observing patient status and keeping licensed personnel informed of any change in condition
• Providing geriatric-specific care
• Performing Patient Transport with or without cardiac monitor
• Administrating medication
• Assisting licensed personnel with the delivery of care to patients with complex - specialized - and potentially life-threatening situations
• Responding to medical emergencies as a part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) - Code Blue team - or medical transport team
• Initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) - using automatic external defibrillator - and assisting with airway management using bag-valve-mask (BVM) - oral airway or nasal airway
• Performing Cardiovascular monitoring to include providing support - relief - and coverage as needed to central station telemetry
• Recognizing lethal rhythms/arrhythmias (i.e
• ventricular fibrillation and asystole) and immediately notifying appropriate staff
• Collecting specimens
• Assisting in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an emergency setting
• Setting up equipment and surgical instrumentation
• Performing Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing
• Operating specialized medical equipment and assisting with patient exams and screenings
• Work Schedule: Full-Time - Monday - Sunday - 9:30am - 10:00pm
• Work schedule may include nights - weekends - and holidays
