Position Description:
This position is a full-time faculty appointment to teach four sections of Middle School math, eitherpre-algebra, algebra, or both, in seventh and eighth grade for the 2026-2027 academic year. CWA’smath program balances conceptual understanding and procedural fluency with effective applicationand connection-making. Strong candidates will have experience preparing students for the nextstage of their math education and feel confident gathering data, identifying needs, and designingextensions or interventions.
A full-time Middle School faculty member teaches four sections of a class and serves as a studentadvisor. In addition, they chaperone a week-long overnight grade-level trip and coach two seasons of competitive athletics or teach four sessions of electives. Middle School faculty are expected toguide and challenge each student to develop their abilities and their potential for moral conduct andresponsible citizenship with the School Mission, Values, Inclusion Statement and Portrait of a Tarrieras guiding documents. Successful Middle School faculty members have a deep understanding ofand joyful love of middle school students.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the MS Math Curriculum Coordinator and the Middle School Director to design and implement an academic curriculum which is developmentally appropriate and effective for student learning, content mastery, and advancement of study and disciplinary skills
Use a variety of instructional methods to create dynamic, engaging lessons, which support the diversity of learners within the classroom
Model and impart enthusiasm for learning, and inspire students to participate fully in the learning process
Collaborate with a grade level team to support the academic as well as the social and emotional growth of the students within the grade
Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students, attending to the social-emotional needs of learners and implementing advisory lessons on a weekly basis
Maintain thorough and up-to-date communications in engaged partnership with students, families, and faculty teams to keep them abreast of students’ performance and proactively to correct any lapse in performance or behavior.
? Write narrative reports twice a year for academic subjects
? Lead family conferences twice a year for advisees
Maintain complete engagement during school hours to engage with students through instruction, supervising, advising, or conferencing time
Provide and maintain a stimulating, safe learning environment built on mutual respect
Practice respectful and effective classroom management techniques, which support active learning and promote responsibility
Attend and participate fully in all scheduled faculty and community meetings, including admissions and prospective family events
Participate fully in the life of the school, including leading experiential education and grade-level trips, chaperoning Middle School social events, and attending All-School and Middle School events such as sporting events, concerts, and plays
Serve as a strong supporter for diversity and inclusion and be a constant champion for student belonging
Maintain confidential information as appropriate
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications
Candidates will possess appropriate expertise and experience for an applicant able to perform theduties as outlined in this posting and deliver consistent and excellent outcomes.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in math or a related field and have someexperience teaching middle-grade students. Preferred candidates will hold or be seeking a Master’sdegree in Education, math, or a related field, possess a current teaching certificate, and have fiveyears of classroom teaching experience.
Qualified candidates will possess a strong commitment to experiential education, serve as achampion of diversity and inclusion and cultural competency, possess the ability to inspire andchallenge young people, the capacity to work cooperatively with peers, a keenness for working withmiddle-grade students, a strong work ethic, and a joyful sense of humor. Candidates should be ableto work flexibly with various educational technologies and an ability to navigate Google G-Suite foreducation and Mac hardware/systems is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
Must be able to move easily around a classroom, accessing materials and assisting students as needed;
Must be able to communicate and exchange information with students, other teachers, and families with appropriately sensitive and accurate communication skills.
Must be able to consistently lift up to 25 lbs.
Salary & benefits
This position has a salary range between $62,500 and $95,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits available subject to plan and candidate eligibility.
Insurance: Medical, Vision, Dental; Basic Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, and Long Term Disability; Health Care FSA; and Dependent Care FSA may be available to employees, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan.
Retirement Plan: CWA offers an employer and employee contributed 403(b) plan, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan.
Paid Sick Leave: Employees receive 80 hours of paid sick/wellness leave per school year.
Personal Leave: Employees will receive 3 days of personal leave per year.
Paid Holidays: CWA offers 12 paid holidays school per year.
