Join the most noble mission in healthcare by helping Veterans thrive! The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) has an opening for a Chief of Psychiatry in picturesque Prescott, Arizona. NAVAHCS serves the healthcare needs of more than 34,000 Veterans spanning across more than 65,000 square miles of Northern Arizona. NAVAHCS has maintained a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) since the rating system started including VA hospitals in the annual national review in 2023. Our medical center includes an 85-bed community living center, a 15-bed unit for acute care, and a 120-bed domiciliary that is part of our Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: Competitive salary + annual performance bonus + regular salary increases.

Sign-On Incentive: For highly qualified candidates, we can offer a recruitment bonus of up to 25% of the salary.

Paid-Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 days paid absence for CME).

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401k with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).

CME: Possible $2,500 per year reimbursement. *

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): a student loan payment reimbursement program up to $200,000. **

Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

* Must be board-certified to receive the 5 days off for CME.

**Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Employment Requirements:

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. Must maintain a current, full, active, and unrestricted license.

U.S. Citizenship required: non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
