Hartford HealthCare is proud to partner in the development of the Pequot Wellness Center, a new community-anchored health center grounded in culture, connection, and whole-person wellness. This innovative center will serve members of all federally recognized Native American tribes, while also functioning as a community primary care clinic, welcoming patients from the surrounding region.
We are seeking a Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Med-Peds) who is inspired by a model of care that honors tradition, community strength, and healing across generations, while delivering high-quality, relationship-based clinical medicine.
Primary Care Position Details:
Role: Primary Care Physician (peds and adults; no OB)
Location: Ledyard, CT – surrounded by nature and history while being connected to major Northeast cities and airports
Setting: 100% office-based, outpatient primary care
Schedule: Full-time, weekdays only (ask about flexible schedule options)
Teaching: Optional with faculty appointment
Phone call only: only ~2 call weekends per year and 1 weeknight ~2 months

Role Overview: As a Primary Care Physician at the Pequot Wellness Center, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care.
You will have the opportunity to help shape a new model of care from the ground up, contributing to clinical programs, workflows, and community engagement in a meaningful and lasting way.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide full-spectrum primary care (preventive, acute, and chronic care) to adult and/or family medicine patients.
Build trusted, longitudinal relationships with patients and families.
Deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and equity-focused care.
Collaborate closely with care teams, including nursing, behavioral health, care coordinators, and community partners.
Participate in care model development, quality improvement, and population health initiatives.
Support wellness-oriented care approaches that address physical, emotional, social, and cultural health.
Engage respectfully with Native communities and the broader patient population served by the center.
Ideal Candidate: We welcome physicians who:
Are board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
Are committed to health equity, community-based care, and service to underserved populations.
Value cultural humility, listening, and relationship-centered care.
Have experience working with Native American, Indigenous, rural, or marginalized communities or who demonstrate a strong desire to learn and engage respectfully.
Are interested in helping build and grow a new, mission-driven health center.
