Position description
The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses, should a need arise, in any of the following possible areas:
Language (Hungarian, Russian, Polish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Armenian, or Ukrainian; possible other languages)
Reading and Composition (first- and second-year undergraduate writing courses in English on Slavic topics, using Slavic literature in translation)
Slavic Literature and Culture (may include History, Film, Folklore, or other related topics)
Language Instruction Coordination, Supervision, and Pedagogy
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web based course resources.
The department seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy.
