Major Duties
Under general supervision of the Music Department Chair, the Accompanist's primary responsibilities are to accompany students during lessons on an on-call basis. The accompanist provides support to recitals for vocal students and wind or string students and other similar duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Special training and/or coursework in piano performance and/or accompanying that would facilitate accompanying instrumentalists or vocalists on standard literature and new works in the classical repertoire.
Experience and thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge and mastery in one or more of the following: string and wind repertoire,' operatic and art song repertoire, fundamentals of harmony, and skill in collaborating with one or more musical instruments as accompanist; and knowledge of digital recording.
Knowledge of repertoire from all musical periods and past experience coaching and performing with young artists.
Ability to improvise and/or transcribe music from recordings preferred.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Classification: 2866 / Accompanist II / Grade 1
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $ 26.69- $ 30.05 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $ 26.69 - $ 38.88 per hour.
HOURS: Intermittent, on-call; hours and schedule vary.
TEMP: This is a Temporary-renewable position.
General Information

This position is sensitive as designated by the CSU.
