The Department of Computer Science at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2026. Responsibilities include coordinating and teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in Computer Science along with engagement in curricular and instructional innovation, scholarship of teaching, student recruitment, advising and service. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment with an opportunity for renewal and promotion.

The Department of Computer Science is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary group of 30+ full-time faculty members and over 2000+ students across its BS, MS, and PhD programs. The department is committed to offering a stimulating program with strong emphasis on high quality, state of the art education and research in the multi-faceted and cosmopolitan environment that the University of Houston and the city of Houston provide. 

Successful applicants will have 5 or more years of teaching experience and demonstrate an ability to successfully teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the following areas:  foundations of computer systems, fundamentals of computer vision, machine learning, and statistical methods in image and data analysis with applications in human behavior analysis, person re-identification, video analytics, computer vision, pattern recognition, and digital image processing.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant computer science discipline and should demonstrate strong academic training, a deep passion and commitment to undergraduate education and evidence-based pedagogy, and a willingness to contribute to student success initiatives and curriculum development in Computer Science.
