BASIC FUNCTION: We are seeking an individual who is familiar with all aspects of the criminal justice system, from correctional and peace officer training, advanced officer training, criminal investigations basic and advanced, criminalistics, as well as a general academic background in the field. The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in Administration of Justice, including but not limited to correctional and peace officer training, basic and advanced criminal investigations, criminalistics, as well as legal aspects of evidence and other general courses within Administration of Justice. This faculty position may include Director duties and the responsibilities will also include coordination and assessment of all academy courses. Assignments may include daytime, evening and weekend classes. The assignment also includes leadership in the development of curriculum, assessment, participation in college governance, participation in the selection and evaluation of adjunct faculty, and interaction with public safety agencies as a representative of the District. The applicant will also need to work closely with the Riverside County Sherriff's Department Academy Coordinators in the daily operations and coordination of the academies at the Ben Clark Training Center.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in the disciplines of homeland security, administration of justice, criminal justice, public administration, or a closely related area and four years professional experience working in the field or the equivalent. A Master's degree is preferred.
(All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions.)
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of four years of professional experience in the criminal justice system, from criminal investigations basic and advanced, criminalistics, or a directly related assignment is required (6 years required with an associate's degree). Demonstrated successful teaching in the area of Administration of Justice/Law Enforcement is also highly desirable.
Experience working with P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards of Training) /STC (Standards of Training Corrections) is highly desirable.
Licenses/Certifications: Basic POST Certification is desirable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in the discipline.
All faculty will participate in outcomes assessment work.
Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement.
Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members.
Participation in discipline/department decision making processes and work regarding curriculum, program development, Improvement of Instruction, and other professional matters are also expected of all department faculty.
Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month, tenure-track position.
Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column B, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.

Orientation to college is required as is adherence to Improvement of Instruction policy.
Maintaining broad knowledge of the academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes is expected.
Responsible for all other conditions of employment required of full-time faculty members such as a willingness to be involved in District and College promotional activities, active participation in college committee work, student activities and other support services, and appropriate professional activities.
