Responsible for the operations of a large program or center at the university. Oversees staff, budgets, and projects.
1. Oversees a large department, program or center. 2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met. 3. Hires and directs the activities of staff. 4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise. 5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development. 6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center. 7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed. 8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents. 9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Responsible for the overall condition and performance of all pianos, harpsichords, celestas and autoharps within the and owned by University of Houston's Moores School of Music. Coordinates the transportation of pianos for all off-site concerts and recitals.
Additional Job Duties: 1. Responsible for the overall condition and performance of all pianos, harpsichords, celestas and autoharps within and owned by the Moores School of Music. 2. Performs regular tuning and maintenance of practice room, studio and concert pianos and maintains them at international quality standards. Diagnoses problems, conducts minor repairs and performs routine rebuilding as needed. 3. Does special tunings and emergency repairs prior to and during recitals and concerts sponsored by the School of Music during the day, evening and weekends. 4. Provides recommendations to the Director on the budgetary and purchasing decisions of instrument inventory, tuning and maintenance . 5. Maintains inventory of parts and supplies required for piano maintenance and provides periodic reports on inventory as needed. 6. Coordinates the transportation of piano moves for all off-site concerts and recitals away from the Moores School of Music. 7. Interprets UH policies and procedures and provides expert knowledge to faculty, staff and interns on basic piano technology, skills and practices. 8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
