The Associate Director, Talent Development plays a key role in designing, delivering, and evaluating learning and development initiatives that strengthen organizational capability, foster career growth, and drive performance. This role partners with staff leaders, HR Business Partners and Operations, and facilitators, both internal and external to identify skill gaps, develop talent end-to-end programming, and implement impactful learning solutions aligned with institutional mission. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with the expectation of being onsite in a hybrid setting of at least 2 days per week.
Your primary responsibilities include:
In partnership with the Principal Talent Strategist, manage a portfolio of talent programs, processes, tools and frameworks. This includes but is not limited to planning, execution, and evaluation of talent development programs, project managing existing processes (i.e. onboarding) and advancing organizational development and readiness (i.e. leadership and staff development, pipeline and succession planning).
Co-lead the design and implementation of innovative talent development programs that build critical skills for current and future needs.
Plan and implement new programs or tools as needed, including assessing need, developing content and/or curriculum, managing stakeholder interest, developing project plans and developing budgets, managing vendor relationships and communications.
Deliver high-impact workshops, staff and leadership development sessions, and team interventions.
Curate and manage digital learning platforms and content libraries to support continuous learning.
Coordinate logistics and oversee end-to-end administration for training programs, workshops, and leadership development sessions (e.g., scheduling, venue setup, materials, and technology).
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and invoicing for external facilitators or consultants.
Serve as a trusted advisor on talent and capability development strategies.
Stay current on best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in adult learning and leadership development.
Develop and deploy measurement systems to track and report progress by preparing reports, dashboards, and summaries on program impact and engagement metrics.
Make recommendations for new programs or tools.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and at least seven years' relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Specialized expertise in employee talent development solutions.
Strong expertise in instructional design, facilitation, and leadership development.
Strong planner, program designer and project manager.
Experience with learning technologies, AI-enabled learning tools, and digital platforms (e.g., Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Cornerstone, etc.)
Excellent communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to measure and demonstrate learning impact through data and analytics.
Ability to thrive in an adaptive, collaborative, and evolving environment.
Demonstrated presentation and group facilitation skills with strong communication skills
Ability to solve complex issues and visualize complicated topics/data into clear and concise recommendations.
Demonstrated proficiency with utilizing technology and systems to deliver insights and produce content.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy of an academic environment.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
ATD and/or SHRM certification preferred
Experience building end-to-end employee facing talent and learning development programs
Deep understanding of full Staff Development life cycle (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation and sustainment.)
The expected pay range for this position is $145,456 to $172,223 per year. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
