The Priory School seeks a dynamic Campus Minister and Theology teacher who is an engaged and contributing member of two departments that operate under a collaborative, shared ministry model with passion and good zeal. Using our five Benedictine values as a guide, they develop authentic relationships with students in order to advance our mission in a way that centers student voice and provides stability through change. This role offers a unique and integrative opportunity to reimagine St. Benedict’s 6th-century teaching in 21st-century Silicon Valley. They collaborate with the offices of DEIB, Wellness, the Benedictine Scholars Program, Residential Life, and Student Life in order to serve wider school efforts and respond in times of communal or global need.
A helpful note: Priory has flexibility with regard to the split between the two roles of the position between Campus Ministry and Theology. When candidates apply, they are invited to use the cover letter to indicate how their skills and qualifications support each role.
CAMPUS MINISTER
A successful candidate in this campus ministry role will:
Coordinate within the shared ministry model of the team multiple program areas including retreats, liturgies, and service & justice experiences which all require strategic planning, budget management, coordination of student and adult leaders (in some cases), and assessment efforts. The point-person role for each program will be determined in the spring semester of the previous academic year using a planning process that spreads the responsibilities of all program offerings across the team throughout the year in a way that is sustainable (with teaching loads taken into consideration).
Provide consultation to the Director around emergent issues and long-term vision efforts for the Department.
Work collaboratively as an integral member of the Campus Ministry team to provide pastoral care to students and colleagues.
Implement the Department’s assessment efforts for program areas being coordinated.
Cultivate and enliven the Benedictine value of hospitality through a regular ministry of presence and programming.
Engage in active formation in the Benedictine tradition, spirituality and identity in partnership with the Priory monastic community and national and global Benedictine network.
Other duties as assigned.
THEOLOGY
A successful candidate in this teaching role will:
Animate a lived-Catholic witness, committed to a Vatican II vision of Church.
Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective pedagogical approaches.
Demonstrate commitment to equitable and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Work collaboratively and regularly with colleagues to develop innovative and meaningful curriculum and programming.
Integrate technology in effective ways that enhance students’ learning experiences and growth.
Take advantage of opportunities for professional growth, leadership, and community building.
Serve as an advisor who is committed to the social and emotional development of students.
Bring unique skills to contribute to our multifaceted community outside of the classroom (e.g. coaching, moderating a club or Affinity/Alliance group, leading a global trip, speaking multiple languages, etc).
Teach students from both the upper school and the middle school with competence, confidence and compassion.
Be highly organized and flexible in both curriculum development and classroom management.
Other duties as assigned.

Have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant Field
Ability to make significant contributions to the larger life of the school

Our Campus: Situated on a 50-acre campus in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Priory is a
coeducational boarding and day school for grades 9-12 as well as a coeducational
day school for grades 6-8. When you explore our campus, you will witness
classrooms that support innovation, state-of-the-art facilities for our performing
arts and visual arts programs, competitive athletics with 34 teams, and affordable

Our Commitment to Diversity Integrity:
Priory actively seeks to advance the equity and diversity of our community
through professional development, admissions, hiring and retention. We believe
that diversity does not inherently lead to inclusion, but must be built through
structures which uphold the social contract of those whom we admit or hire.
Integrity to this social contract means a commitment to mutuality in relationships
and care for the dignity of each person. Through regular reflection and
examination of our own culture and practices, and growth in our cultural
proficiency, Priory strives for an educational and working experience where all
can be seen, known, and loved.
