Algebra 1, Geometry, and Physics - 8-12 students per class. This position is perfect for a special education teacher with knowledge in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Physics who enjoys content teaching utilizing best instructional practices for mild/moderate disabilities.

Prepare high-quality lesson plans and activities in line with the California Common Core Standards and State grade-level curricular requirements, and according to the needs of students.
Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructional techniques by using a wide variety of materials & mediums of delivery, avoiding overuse of any one medium.
Demonstrate knowledge of each student’s learning profile by reviewing assessment data to obtain each student’s history, issues, and disabilities.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and reporting on individualized education goals appropriate to the subject matter taught and assigned by the IEP case manager by preparing for treatment planning meetings, providing current, specific data, and creating appropriate goals and objectives; by developing and employing strategies & interventions; by monitoring & evaluating student progress; by sharing information.
Manage the classroom to maintain a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency.
Maintain a firm, fair, and consistent approach to the instruction of students and promote student involvement by reinforcing positive behaviors.
Ensure the rights of students are observed and protected through the use of appropriate respectful communication with fairness and equity.
Project a positive role model image for students and colleagues by participating as a team member, cooperating with staff, demonstrating compromise and appropriate expression of opinions; by attending staff meetings as required; by actively participating in all other school-related activities/functions, including clubs, extracurricular activities, and school events (school picnic, Back to School Night, Open House, etc.)
Utilize the chain-of-command in all aspects of the program and follow the Staff Procedures and Expectations Manual.
Maintain appropriate relationships with the students by treating students in a respectful manner at all times, eliciting students' interest, and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Maintain confidentiality of all student records per program guidelines.
Responsible for communicating and cooperating with families, relevant external personnel, and staff members, ensuring all communication of information - written or verbal - is clear, concise, legible, accurate, and courteous.
Participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Provide timely, accurate, and professional documentation by recording grades/points, progress notes, progress reports, benchmarks, and report cards. Maintain Jupiter Grades on a weekly basis.
Assure the classroom physical environment is conducive to learning by maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom work areas, including but not limited to desks, shelves, and storage areas.
Participate in the WASC accreditation process in conjunction with other faculty and as assigned by the Executive Director.
Complete specialized training necessary for NPS compliance or the general safety and security of students and Bayhill High School.
Follow the expectations outlined in the Employee Handbook and the Staff Procedures & Expectations Manual.
Prefer a credentialed teacher in special education, math, or science.
The mission of Bayhill High School is to educate students with learning differences, focusing on their individual learning needs, with the goal of maximizing their inherent abilities and their potential to succeed. A small high school in Berkeley, CA, Bayhill provides a WASC accredited program, A-G approved course work to students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences. Our neurodiverse student body has average to above average intelligence, but struggle to learn in a large high school due to learning differences. Many of our students have strengths in the arts or sciences.
