Department Overview The UCOP Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) manages retirement benefits for University of California employees. It provides comprehensive services including retirement planning, benefit administration, and support for retirement-related inquiries.
Position Summary The Reporting Manager at RASC, UCOP, will lead a team of three to oversee all business reporting functions, including weekly reviews, annual reports, board presentations, and audit responses. This role requires ensuring data integrity, developing ad hoc reporting solutions, and implementing best practices for data management and visualization. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and a background in reporting or analytics with leadership experience. Please note this is a hybrid position located in Oakland, CA.
Key Responsibilities
25% Lead and manage the RASC Reporting & Analytics function: Directly oversee a team of reporting professionals, including two direct reports responsible for systemwide shared services reporting. Establish priorities, set performance expectations, and ensure delivery of high-quality reporting outputs. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management. Develop and enforce reporting standards, governance practices, and documentation protocols to ensure consistency and scalability.
15% Own and deliver executive and operational reporting cadence: Oversee the development and delivery of weekly reporting metrics presented to RASC supervisors, managers, and executive leadership. Ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with operational KPIs and service level expectations. Translate complex data into actionable insights and continuously refine reporting content to reflect evolving business priorities.
20% Develop and deliver board-level reporting and presentations: Lead the creation of reports, analyses, and presentation materials for University of California retirement boards and governance bodies. Synthesize complex operational and financial data into clear, executive-level narratives and visuals. Partner with senior leadership to ensure alignment of messaging, insights, and recommendations.
10% Design, build, and maintain dashboards and data visualization solutions: Lead the development and deployment of dashboards that provide visibility into KPIs, SLAs, and operational performance. Drive automation and scalability of reporting solutions to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency. Ensure dashboards are intuitive, actionable, and aligned with stakeholder needs. Oversee the effective use and optimization of reporting and analytics tools. Evaluate and implement enhancements to reporting systems and processes. Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in business intelligence and analytics.
15% Ensure data integrity, governance, and reporting accuracy: Establish and maintain data validation, quality assurance, and internal control processes. Partner with data owners and system teams to ensure reliability and consistency of data sources. Identify and resolve data discrepancies and ensure compliance with UC data privacy and security policies.
15% Lead cross-functional collaboration and reporting integration: Collaborate with RASC business units, systemwide shared services teams, IT, and finance to standardize KPIs, SLAs, and reporting frameworks. Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into effective reporting solutions. Support continuous improvement and enterprise reporting initiatives.
Experience Required Qualifications
Minimum ten years of experience in reporting or analytics, with at least 4 years in a leadership role
Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data integrity and accuracy
Proficiency in reporting, analytics, and data visualization tools, including but not limited to: Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Advanced Microsoft Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot), and enterprise systems such as Oracle and PeopleSoft. Experience with data warehousing and automation tools (e.g., Snowflake, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, Python, or similar) is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a team to achieve strategic objectives

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
