Position Summary University IT (UIT) AVT Solutions team, part of the Business Affairs organization at Stanford University, is dedicated to delivering world-class service and technological solutions to advance research, teaching, and learning, administration, and healthcare. Stanford University is expanding its Audio/Video (A/V) services, and we are looking for an AV Field Install Technician who can excel at orchestrating and prioritizing the timely deployment of multiple large A/V systems and equipment refresh projects in a fast-paced, fluid environment. This position reports to the Director of UIT AVT Solutions. The responsibilities center on client engagement, AV system consulting and implementation oversight, and ensuring the solution functions as intended and meets the venue's use cases.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct installation and de-installation of AV Systems
Lead a team of AV Technicians on Installation Projects
Provide network cabling and terminations in existing buildings
Test and document TSO cabling
Responsible for identifying defective/failed equipment and providing solutions
Completion of Post Installation Assessments
Ensure systems are ready for internal acceptance testing
Install software upgrades and basic device configuration
Act as a point of escalation for technical issues and provide solutions for ongoing faults
Communicates with the project management team on project status daily
Document and report hardware failures and escalate support cases with manufacturers
Manage Onsite installation duties
Manage and conduct prefabrication duties for larger-scale deployments
Manage subcontractors for electrical and minor construction
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience Terminating, Configuring, and Programming at least one of the following types of equipment: Extron, Cisco, Crestron, Atlona, Biamp, QSC
Must have extensive data cabling installation and termination experience
Must be able to read and understand plans to ensure everything is done correctly, and then do any additional configuration that is required
Must have the ability to redline and note documents on field changes
Conduct field installations in construction environments
Must be agile and exhibit a strong sense of urgency
Must be responsive, efficient, have excellent customer interaction, and exhibit a high level of professionalism
Ability to assist the field engineers upon the close-out and commissioning phase of deployment
Responsible and reliable, capable of working alone as well as part of a team
Good organization and time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities
Good written and verbal communication skills
Must have critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Be a motivated team player
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Able to work for extensive periods on and off ladders
Must know and comply with all OSHA guidelines
Ability to drive day or night.
Work Standards:
When conducting university business, must comply with California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
Technical skills:
AV Control (Crestron, QSC, Biamp, Extron, Atlona, etc.)
AV Audio (BIAMP, QSC, Extron, etc)
Video Conferencing (Cisco, Zoom, Teams)
Network Infrastructure Cabling Experience and Certifications
The expected pay range for this position is $124,870 to $155,346 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
