This is an opportunity for an individual who is just beginning their Turfgrass/Golf Course Management career and would like to build a solid foundation to grow within the industry. We strive to educate and display techniques used to maintain Turfgrass in the harsh Desert Southwest. Candidates will gain knowledge and experience on in-house renovation projects, and will be extremely hands-on with irrigation repairs, planning, and timing.
This opportunity became available due to the current position holder moving into their first Golf Course Superintendent role.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent (Secondary) will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent (Primary) on the day-to-day operations of the golf course maintenance team. This position will train and supervise the crew, manage golf course conditions, and be a key member of the agronomy management team.
Essential Functions:
•Support the Superintendent in managing all aspects of the golf course •Perform calibration and application of pesticides and fertilizers •Operate and troubleshoot the course irrigation system •Assist in managing employees, including scheduling and supervising safe equipment usage, in the Superintendent’s absence •Apply cultural practices to greens, tees, and fairways •Implement agronomic best practices for course optimization •Support overall maintenance plans for the golf course •Keep detailed records of course management history and future plans •Scout and manage turf pests •Assist with equipment upkeep and repairs •Track growing degree days, clipping volumes, and weather models through the growing season •Monitor and manage moisture levels in areas of play •Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or needs of the club

Turfgrass Science Degree/Certificate from creditable university
• At least 3+ years’ experience in golf course operations, preferably at a resort golf facility • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Able to coordinate with other club departments for events, scheduling, and other club priorities • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
