SUMMARY
The Director of Wellness leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate wellness program for students in grades 7–12. This role promotes a proactive, school-wide culture of mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience through programming, student support, and faculty collaboration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development & Implementation
Design and deliver wellness curriculum for the grades 7–12 Advisory program
Collaborate on and support wellness-related content for school assemblies
Lead the Wellness Ambassador Program with student volunteers to design and implement wellness initiatives
Plan and coordinate co-curricular activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being across campus
Student Support
Provide individual wellness coaching to students during designated office hours
Serve as a resource for students navigating social-emotional challenges
Identify students in need of additional support and make referrals to appropriate outside professionals when necessary
Assist with crisis response and management in collaboration with school leadership and counseling professionals
Participate actively on Student Support Teams for grades 7–9 and 10–12
Faculty & Staff Development
Develop and facilitate professional development sessions for faculty on topics related to student mental health, wellness, and adolescent development
Partner with faculty to integrate wellness practices into the broader student experience
Curriculum & Instruction
Teach at least one course related to wellness, psychology, or human development, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively.
COMPENSATION
$90,000-$115,000 (based on experience)
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in counseling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or a related field
Experience working with adolescents in an educational or clinical setting
Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and wellness practices
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Sierra Canyon School is a nonprofit independent, nondenominational, coeducational day school in the northern San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. With an enrollment of 1,150 students in grades PK-12, admission is selective. Sierra Canyon School is located on 42 beautiful, rustic acres and has two campuses across the street from each other: the Lower Campus for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Six and the state-of-the-art Upper Campus for students in grades Seven through Twelve. Students of color comprise over 50% of the student body, 10% are international students, and students reside in 102 different zip codes. There are roughly 500 students on the Lower Campus and 670 students on the Upper Campus with 134 students in the Class of 2026.
