The Literacy Specialist plays a critical role in strengthening student achievement by providing targeted support to learners in writing and reading through individual and small group instruction in Primary-Upper Elementary divisions. Working closely with Division Directors and in collaboration with the Director of Student Support, this position offers the chance to make a direct and measurable impact on student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality literacy instruction to small groups and individuals.
Use student data to guide instruction and move students toward proficiency.
Maintain organized and up-to-date records that are readily available to share with parents, classroom guides, and administrative teams as needed.
Collaborate with guides, academic coaches, and administrators to identify and implement best practices.
Utilize Montessori-based and other research based interventions as indicated, aligned to specific student needs.
Monitor and communicate student progress effectively with the instructional team.
Assist with identifying students for enrichment placement based on data and observation.
Provide consistent diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments for reading and writing as needed.
Coordinate and house data collection and lead data analysis in collaboration with Division Directors and Director of Student Support.
Participate in meetings to support student growth decisions, as needed.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree with a focus on literacy
Preferred: AMI Montessori Certification, Certification in Academic Language Therapy (CALT) completed or in process
