Volleyball Program Head 

Mayfield Senior School of the Holy Child Jesus, an independent Catholic girls’ high school in Pasadena, California, seeks a mission-driven, dynamic, and student-centered coach to serve as Head Volleyball Coach for the 2026-27 school year.

Mayfield seeks a Head Coach who is an outstanding leader and role model for girls and understands how to motivate and communicate with young women to help them develop to their fullest potential both on and off the court. The ideal candidate will have a competitive volleyball and coaching background coupled with strong communication skills to motivate, support, and advance the team at all levels of competition, the ability to collaborate with a staff of highly skilled assistant coaches and a commitment to Mayfield’s Holy Child values.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a comprehensive volleyball program that emphasizes skill development, game strategy, and competitive excellence.
• Plan and lead engaging, high-energy practices that maximize athlete development and team cohesion.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture aligned with school values and mission.
• Analyze performance through film, data, and scouting to continuously improve team outcomes.
• Mentor student-athletes in leadership, sportsmanship, time management, and personal responsibility.
• Collaborate with athletic staff, faculty, and administration to support academic and athletic success.
• Communicate effectively with players, families, and school leadership.
• Organize team logistics including scheduling, travel, equipment, and game-day operations.
• Run the high school summer program with an opportunity to develop a junior high program.
• Support off-season training, strength and conditioning, and player development pathways.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and athletic regulations.
• Prioritize student-athlete health and safety by collaborating closely with the athletic trainer on strength and conditioning, injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocol.

Qualifcations:

• Proven track record of successful volleyball coaching at the high school level or higher
• Deep knowledge of volleyball systems, techniques, and modern training methodologies
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and inspire diverse student-athletes
• Demonstrated alignment with educational values and student-centred coaching philosophy
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build a cohesive program from development levels through varsity competition
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience building or transforming competitive volleyball programs
• Background in athlete development, sports psychology, or performance analysis
• Ability to integrate strength and conditioning principles into training
• High energy, adaptability, and a growth mindset

Salary

This is a seasonal stipend position based on an estimated 12-16 hours per week. The salary range is competitive and commensurate with coaching experience, $8,000-$11,000.
