We’re hiring an HR Manager at Nissin International Transport USA!
Nissin International Transport USA is looking for a hands-on, approachable, and experienced HR Manager to join our Human Resources team in Gardena, California.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in the full employee lifecycle, supporting managers and employees, improving HR processes, and helping build a strong, service-oriented HR function in a multi-location organization.
The HR Manager will support day-to-day HR operations, including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, payroll coordination, employee support, training administration, HRIS maintenance, and multi-state compliance. The role will also partner closely with managers, employees, vendors, and leadership to ensure HR processes are accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with business needs.
Location: Gardena, CA Schedule: On-site for the first 3 months; after that, hybrid with 2 days per week on-site Compensation: $100,000–$115,000 starting salary, plus a non-discretionary bonus Status: Full-time, exempt Reports to: Director of HR and Administration
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will help manage and support:
Full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment processes
New hire onboarding and employee transition support
Benefits administration, employee questions, vendor coordination, and reporting
Leave of absence tracking, including FMLA, CFRA, disability, workers’ compensation-related leaves, and personal leaves
Semi-monthly payroll coordination with third-party payroll provider
Employee and manager questions related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, onboarding, leaves, and general employment matters
Required employee training through web-based learning systems
Performance management, employee development, HR projects, audits, system updates, and process improvements
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
At least 5 years of progressive HR experience
Strong HR generalist experience, preferably with lead or supervisory responsibility
Experience with ADP, benefits systems, applicant tracking systems, learning management systems, and HR technology
Solid understanding of employment compliance, benefits administration, payroll coordination, leaves of absence, and employee relations
Strong communication, follow-up, organization, and customer service skills
A practical, hands-on, solutions-oriented approach
Ability to build strong working relationships with employees, managers, vendors, and leadership
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent HR experience may be considered
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Director of HR and Administration, the HR Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day human resources operations, including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, payroll coordination, employee support, training administration, and multi-state compliance. This position partners with employees, managers, vendors, and leadership to ensure HR processes are accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with Nissin’s business needs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Manage and support the full-cycle talent acquisition process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offer support, and pre-employment processes.
Coordinate and support onboarding activities to help new employees successfully transition into the organization.
Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, employee questions, vendor coordination, and related reporting.
Manage and track leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, disability, workers’ compensation-related leaves, personal leaves, and other applicable leave programs.
Support the semi-monthly payroll process, including reviewing payroll-related data, coordinating with third-party payroll providers, and ensuring timely file feeds to and from vendors.
Respond to employee and manager questions related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, onboarding, leaves, and general employment matters.
Support compliance activities, including required reporting, employee notices, personnel file maintenance, policy updates, and HR documentation.
Administer and monitor required employee training through web-based learning systems, including compliance-related training.
Support performance management, training, development, and other employee lifecycle activities.
Maintain accurate HRIS, payroll, benefits, and employee records.
Partner with managers to support staffing needs, employee communication, policy interpretation, and HR best practices.
Assist with audits, HR projects, process improvements, and system updates.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
Perform other HR, compliance, and business-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably with supervisory, lead, or HR generalist responsibility.
Experience with ADP, online benefits systems, applicant tracking systems, web-based learning management systems, and HR technology preferred.
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment compliance, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and employee relations.
Excellent customer service, communication, and follow-up skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Practical problem-solving ability with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, vendors, and leadership.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and HR systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with a diverse employee population.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent HR experience may be considered.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
Physical Requirements / Other:
Must be able to perform standard office duties, including working at a computer for extended periods.
Must be able to travel as needed to support company locations, meetings, audits, or employee-related matters.
