An amazing opportunity to work with a team of experienced pediatric audiologists, certified auditory-verbal therapists, and teachers of the deaf for a one-of-a-kind learning experience! The audiology department at Texas Hearing Institute is seeking TWO highly motivated Doctor of Audiology students to complete an exciting and challenging fourth-year externship in pediatrics. This full-time externship will provide doctoral students opportunities to learn about disorders of hearing in childhood, participate on an interdisciplinary team, and develop the clinical skills necessary to enter the professional world as a pediatric audiologist.
PEDIATRIC HEARING ASSESSMENT AND TECHNOLOGY At Texas Hearing Institute, we specialize in diagnostic testing to rule out or identify hearing loss in children. When hearing loss is identified, we collaborate with caregivers using a family-centered approach to determine optimal intervention and/or treatment options. Texas Hearing Institute audiology protocols are current, evidence-based, and follow best practices.
MELINDA WEBB SCHOOL The Melinda Webb School (MWS) is located on-site within the Texas Hearing Institute and is an auditory-oral school for students who are 18 months old through 6 years of age. Audiology externs assist MWS staff with troubleshooting and daily listening checks of personal hearing technology and HAT.
